The Sewing Republic...that is the new adventure I decided to embark on before Finn was born.
What is it ? you might ask. It's a new website bu Bernina USA (still in expansion) dedicated to the young sewing crowd. I was intrigued/flattered/interested when they asked me to contribute three new projects for the web site. The projects had to be very simple and take less than three hours to sew. They should be up in April for free download. In this endeavor I am joined by three other crafters: Stacy Sews, Handmade Kate and Appliance Clothing. It's nice to be in such great company!
As a great motivator, Bernina loaned me a really neat/ fancy sewing computer ( yes, that's what it's called). the Aurora 440 QE. It's the one with the stitch regulator, and it's mine for one full year!
Incidentally one of my very favorite artist just bought one of her own. She got a loan from the Finnish government for it, how cool is that?
I have been doodling about on my new toy and this jacket is one of the finished projects. I think I'll make a linen skirt next...one that accommodates an expended hip size.
Carrot-orange juice anyone? The coaters are one of the patterns to be published in April.
These are sooo cute! And I wouldn't mind a freshly made Carrot juice either!

Lucky you getting to "play" with the latest Bernina! Great coasters. I will have to check back on the Sewing Republic in April for the patterns. They would be great project for my 11 year old daughter who loves quick projects.

Omg, that is such a cool sewing computer (just because it has the word computer...totally cool). I will take a look at the Sewing Republic webpage. And also, I will take a carrot-orange juice to go (I'm at the office). xox

Wow, this is great news! I can't wait to see what you and the others have planned. The coasters are very cute. I'll have to try those. Just imagine all the great new things you can sew up this year during Finn's nap times.
