Scent of water Swap
Just to make a point the mailman brought my partner swap picture after I complained about not getting any swap goodies. It's lovely and from Australia! Thank you Sandra!

Karin and I have a little swap of sorts going on right now. It's very personal and took us quite a while to set up.
We made-up rules for ourselves and it's easy to get carried away at first. I love rules (which my hippie parents always resented) while Karin is normal. The goal is to make a little art quilt no bigger than a 12" square. We sent each other twelve items ( six of which had to be fabrics). We have the freedom to omit or substitute two items for our own. The theme is Modernism.
I am so lucky to have received hand-dyed pieces (!) such as the aqua velveteen on the top and I suspect the peach gauze below. At first the inspiration was fickle but I am full of ideas now. I am thinking home appliances!
We'll just have to see what happens. Stay tuned!
Remember that swap I signed up for? Elsie Marley Mobile Swap. Well the mobile is ready! After one solid week of hand work, much watched Tennis and no major injuries, a rather large Pinwheel Mobile is born.
The mystery recipient requested Red and Black. It's a little hard at first readjusting to someone else's request ( I had no idea that we were supposed to ask for something in specific terms) but in the end as it focuses the inspiration it frees the mind of aimless ramblings...
I think I might post a little tutorial on how to make the pinwheels... I didn't end up following much of what is found online.
For the mobile itself, the ring construction was inspired by the MSL post from ages ago...(December issue).
Elsie Marley is organizing a mobile swap this month, and the deadline is Friday January 18th, this Friday.
I have been intrigued by all those great swaps blogged about on the web, and here I have taken the plunge!
I have to say I am a bit intimidated, hopefully I don't get crafter's block from being too nervous... It's odd and exhilarating to make something special for someone you have never met. But then again that's all the fun of blogging, you make new friends all the time and you don't always know where they live or what they look like. Right now I look BIG!
